What Minnesota actually requires
Minnesota requires 90 hours of pre-licensing education before you may sit the licensing exam. Licences renew on roughly a 2-year cycle, and continuing education attaches to that renewal rather than to the original licence.
Getting to a licence in Minnesota typically runs $500–$1,000 once coursework, the exam fee, application and fingerprinting are counted. That figure excludes the association and MLS dues that begin afterwards and recur whether or not you close anything.

Two things are worth checking specifically: whether a failed attempt means re-sitting one portion or both, and how long your pre-licensing coursework stays valid. Those two rules decide what a retake actually costs you, and they vary more between states than most candidates expect.

The 90 hours of coursework is the predictable part. Scheduling the exam, waiting on application processing and finding a broker to hang the licence with are the parts that stretch, and a failed attempt adds a waiting period on top. Plan against the first closing, not the licence date.
Is a state-specific question bank worth paying extra for?
It depends entirely on whether the state content is genuinely researched or generic material relabelled. Ask how many questions cover state law specifically, and treat an evasive answer as the answer.
Does Minnesota require continuing education?
